Eat Those Leftovers!

Every time I clean out the refrigerator and see the food containers that have become makeshift petrie dishes, I resolve anew to eat leftovers and leave the science experiments to the experts. And then things get pushed to the back, I forget about them, and it starts all over again.

So today I made a couple of refrigerator magnets to remind us of those leftovers.

I used a couple of those thin, advertising magnets that often come in the mail. I happened to have two from the same company, and they were the same size. Otherwise, I would have cut one of them.

Then I printed two messages on a sheet of scrapbook paper. It's thicker paper so covered the advertising better than regular printer paper.

I cut them apart and glued them to the front of the magnets using ordinary school glue which I spread evenly across the surface. To center the print, I just held it against the light. Then stacked books on top until dry and trimmed the paper to the edges of the magnets. (They weren't quite dry when I took the picture so I snapped the pictures and put them back under the books, and I also printed them on yellow paper so they would show up on the fridge better.)

Then I cleared the refrigerator and put them front and center. What is nice about these thin magnets is that they can be stacked on top of each other.

And that's what I did here. When there are leftovers in the fridge, this one is on top and the "No Leftovers" is under it. When there are no leftovers, I'll switch them.

I could have made them more permanent by using Mod Podge, with a protective layer over the top to keep them clean, but knowing me, I'll want to redo it, and this way I can.
