The Real First Blooms of 2014

I planted these crocus years ago but they are very fickle and rarely bloom. This is a good year for them I guess.

That probably is a reflection of my horticultural inability.

  1. Wow, blooms already?

It will be a good two months before anything blooms here?

    1. It does seem too early but I noticed a daffodil blooming yesterday, so maybe they are on schedule. I know that sometimes the daffodils are done before Easter and that's always disappointing.

    1. Thanks. I need to learn to use the good camera so I could really show it.

    1. There's bound to be a tradeoff, but I don't know what it would be right now. Fewer bugs?

    1. I really don't anything about crocus. Are yours as fickle as mine? I don't think I've ever seen this one bloom before. Last year I had a pink one.

  5. I need to check my garden. Last year I almost missed them because of the fall leaves still covering my garden.

    1. Same here. This one was under a lantana that I was trimming back.

    1. Yes! I think that's why I like daffodils so much. Anything pastel is spring to me.

  7. For that color, I would let them be fickle lol If the gophers left mine alone, then I should have white, lavender and purple. I think they ate the yellow ones the first year they moved in...grrr. So thank you for sharing these stunners.

  8. gorgeous~!! love seeing these first sweet spring flowers.
i haven't seen any signs of my crocus yet but i have daffodils just starting to push up and a few iris heading up too. normally this would be way too early for them but this has been an unusual year. i just hope that they don't get ruined by a freeze.

    1. This is an odd year. I walked through the yard today and saw that some lantana are beginning to leaf out. They are usually late spring, not first. I also saw several blooming daffodils in the backyard but none in the front. Have no idea why they aren't on the same time table.
