Blogger is Driving Me Crazy(ier)

For a long time, I've noticed that I don't have an email for every comment made on my blog, and lately, nearly every comment I make on other blogspot blogs bounces back as undeliverable. I even did a little test yesterday and commented on blogs where I did receive their emails, and the email part of my comment still bounced back.

There have been other things about blogger, mostly having to do with google, that I don't care for also. I'm probably one of the few people who doesn't like Google Plus and wish I'd never signed up. Now I can't seem to get out of it without affecting my blog.

Years ago, when I was locked out of my blog (turned out to be a temporary glitch), I registered with wordpress. Same name as here, just with wordpress. But after becoming accustomed to the way blogger works, I found wordpress fairly difficult. By the time I learned the basics there, my blog here was working again. So I put the wordpress blog on the back burner - no, it was further back than that - it went to a closet in the basement. (and no, I don't really have a basement)

A few weeks ago, I decided once again to chunk blogspot and migrate over to the wordpress blog I had created. But then I couldn't find the password, and had no idea what email I was using back then. Apparently, it was an email I no longer use. So now I have to start over again with a new name if I go to wordpress. That's good in a way, because The Next Fifty Years is so common that it's hard to find in a search. Not that there are many unique and catchy names available now.

What do you think?

  1. Good Morning Marti, I went through mostly the same thing but never could find and get my blog running again on wordpress. I gave it up. Now that I have finally found you again I hnope you stay with blogger.
And yes the emal sign up is now working.. You maybe surprised how many sing ups you have now that it is working. I'm on google+ and don't like it at all. Only go there if there is a notification showing. Not wanting to be rude.
I found the next fifty years this morning easily this morning simply by googling it.

  2. I used to receive emails of every comment posted on my blog, but now there are a few that I never see, always the same people. I've learned to check my blog dashboard and try to send emails to those individuals IF I have their addy.

    I did not join Google+ and I'm glad I didn't.

I also have a Wordpress blog somewhere in cyberland.

  3. I don't have google plus and I'm glad of that too. I don't like it.

For the past couple of months I've been getting those dang failure to deliver notices in my email. I've checked out the blogs that I did leave comments on and my comments are there so I don't know what the deal is. It's a pain in the rear getting notices every time you post a comment, but I just go in there and delete the notice. I don't know what else to do.

I think I checked into wordpress quite awhile ago but it looked more difficult so I decided to just stay put.

Enjoy your days in spite of blogger. :-)

  4. I never joined Google+ for this exact reason. But I've been playing with the idea of switching to wordpress for a while. I guess, I just don't want to have to learn it all all over again :)

Your comments make my day and I look forward to visiting your blog too! If you are a no-reply blogger and don't have your blog on your profile, could you write it in your comment so I can visit you? Thanks! Due to a recent spamming problem, comments with links and unidentified anonymous comments will be deleted.
