Wordless Wednesday - August in North Texas

No rain since June, and very dry.

A small animal could fall in these cracks.

And yet...

The oasis in this parched land is my pond, and the lilies in it.

  1. We have seen images of the fires in other parts of the USA. I hope that your dry spell doesn't cause too many problems. Jx

  2. We've had years like that, where the cracks are large enough to swallow small children. We've been lucky to have had rain at least once every 2 weeks this year, so it's been nice here. I love that last photo. The contrast with the pink and green really makes that flower just shine.

  5. It's not QUITE that dry here, but I understand drought - it's been a long while since we've had a good soaking rain.

  8. Our soil is on quite a bit of clay, and we get huge cracks like that all summer.
