Design Wall Monday

Yes, I know, it's on the floor, not the wall. My "design wall" has been taken down for the moment so the floor it is.

I completed the block portion of this quilt and thought I'd take a picture before I hand it off to the group. Don't look carefully; it's far from perfect. But it's done and right now that's worth celebrating. I don't know if someone there will finish the borders or if they will give it back to me to do once they find the border fabric. Seems like they chose fabric for it originally, but since the size changed, they may change that too.

This is all I got done this weekend, besides cutting a few blocks for a trial run on a new quilt.

Nice job.

(my floor always serves as a design wall)

They look fantastic! I can't wait to see the finish.

Excellent stitching of all those points. My design table and floor have never been superseded by a design wall--yet!

Thank you. It isn't the colors I would have chosen, but it did turn out pretty.

Thanks. One thing about a design floor - it's always there. lol

I'd like to see it finished too. But since I only put it together for someone else, I may not get to see the finished quilt. I played with some fabrics and a fairly solid green border looked good with it. So if I never get to see the finished quilt, that's how I will imagine it.

Thank you, but it's a good thing I didn't show a close-up. Some of those point are cut off (another reason this block shouldn't be used as a QAYG) and others don't line up at all. But from a galloping horse, I think it will pass, and it will keep someone's lap warm I hope. Thanks for visiting.

Looks great to me. I couldn't do this at all.

Have a terrific day. ☺

May be not perfect, but gorgeous with all that fabrics!!!

Yes you can! I always thought I couldn't do it since I can't make clothing to save my life, but quilting is so easy with the tools available today. Just start with something easy like a fence rail block or 4 patch block.

Thank you!

Your quilt is beautiful! I wouldn't even know where to start and I know all the work that goes into it. Keep quilting!

Thank you. It is a lot of work, but easier than putting in a new garden.

I like the block and I like the colours even tho you wouldn't have chosen them. I'm not sure I would have either but they do look nice in the quilt.

Thank you. I decided I like them too.

I use my floor as design wall. A wonderful collection of blocks, Marti.

Thank you. I like this block but would like to make a traditional quilt with them too.

Very pretty. Looks like you got them all to play nice with each other. It's going to be a lovely finished quilt.

Wall, board, floor....hey whatever works! Atm, I am using a bathtowel pinned up on my bookcase....you gotta do what you gotta do.....lovely quilt blocks...are they paper pieced? If so, I would like to give those a try. Thanks for linking up at Bits 'n Bobs...loved having you over.

Thank you. It's better in pictures than in person I'm afraid. I had to force some of them to match up and that made some of the sashing bulge. But I gave it to my friend and she said it looked fine to her. She's going to find the border fabric they picked out or buy more and have me finish it, so I'll be able to show a finish on it.

I usually have a piece of flannel clipped to the wall, but I took it down and 'misplaced' it. lol

Yes, the block is paper pieced, but the other day I found instructions for a regular pieced pattern. If I can find the links again, would you like me to email to you?
