A Collectible Lovers Dream

While driving through the Texas panhandle after Christmas, we noticed a lot of metal art in front of a business called Rustic Relics in Quanah.

We stopped to look around. There were metal ants, horned toads, peacocks, and chickens. Santas with bobbing heads and pulling wagons. Snowmen and Christmas trees of all sizes, and so much more that I can't even remember now. Lots of metal flowers and birdhouses.

I bought a unique little birdhouse for mom. It looked like a multi-colored fire hydrant, which just fit mom's love of birds and dogs. Sorry, no photo of it. And I bought a small springy cat for myself. I thought it would be a cute way to display Christmas cards.

Hubby had taken the birdhouse inside the business to pay for it, and when I showed him the cat I wanted, he took it from me and offered to go pay for it too. That's when I knew he didn't want me to go inside. So in I went.

And that's when the hallelujah chorus began singing in my head. The room was filled with with stuff, and I do mean filled. Antique and vintage furniture lined up in rows, and every piece stacked with dishes, figurines, lamps, and artwork. There were some new gift items near the counter too. I walked down every row gathering it all in, and then stepped into the back warehouse. The hallelujah chorus rose to a crescendo. Row upon dusty row of furniture, dishes, picture frames, lamps, sculpture, and jewelry. But I didn't have time to do more than take these photos with my cell phone. Please excuse the poor quality of these pictures but a cell phone photo beats nothing, especially when Hubby is sitting in the car with the motor running.

I can't believe I've never noticed this place before, but you can be sure I will schedule a day to explore it fully. A day when Hubby is not there rushing me through it.

If you have a chance to go there, let me know what treasures you find.

    1. If we hadn't been on our way somewhere, with mother-in-law and a fully loaded car, I would have done just that. But that's ok. Next time, I'll take my empty SUV and go alone. Maybe meet someone there for a day of fun.

  4. Oh I love Quanah! We were on an excursion train that went there when the Rail Road Convention was in Ft Worth. The people are so warm - so great! At first I was going to say there is a shop like that one in Fredericksburg, but then you went in! On wow! I am so glad that is sooo far from my usual stomping grounds.
