Blogger Problem with Comment Notifications

I check my email several times a day, and I had just about decided that having a separate blog for stitching was not a good idea because I haven't had a comment since May 24 on either blog. Then I thought to look in my dashboard at the comments, and there WERE comments! I know I didn't change my notifications but I thought I must have done something when I backed up my main blog to move it here and to wordpress.

But then I checked my barndominium blog, and did a test comment, and didn't get a notification. To check further, I checked another blog I set up when I was trying out a new idea, and it has a yahoo email while this block has microsoft. Nope, no notifications from it either.

If you are having a problem with notifications, would you comment here? And if you are having a problem AND find a solution, would you definitely post that here? I've posted the problem on a blogger support forum but so far no response.

Several bloggers have posted that they can't post on blogs with embedded comments.  However, with embedded comments, you can check the box to have comments emailed to you.  With a popup comment box, you don't have that option.   I hope Blogger and Wordpress get this figured out soon.

  1. Sounds like many are having issues with both Blogger comments and WordPress comments. I think they just have hiccups from time to time.

Have a fabulous day, Marti. ♥

  3. I just found another thread on the Blogger Help Forum where a lot of people are saying that it is linked to the GDPR update. Makes sense.

  4. This is likely due to the new updates to the General Data Protection regulations (GDPR) that went into effect on 25 May. People must consent to their information being received via email. The official Blogger blog also announced that OpenID, "next Blog", Polls and other 3rd party gadgets would be retired. So many changes.

    1. I've been doing that, but I'm still not getting comments emailed to me. I just need to find a system of keeping up with the comments I guess.

    2. I still am not getting any comments emailed to me, it is so frustrating. I really enjoy emailing back individually but I have no idea what to do!!

    3. Martha, have you tried asking on the Blogger help forum? One of the moderators really helped me. My comments and email notifications are working like they should now. I think Blogger changed something.

  7. I am having the problem for about a month now. It happened the same way about 2 months ago, and I thought it was a provider issue. Then it went away. After I had noticed in visiting other blogs, other folks were having the same problem. Apparently Blogger is working to correct the issue, or so I'm told. I can't find any place that addresses their troubleshooting, so I'm not sure if this is true or not!

  8. I'm in the same boat. Like some others, if I comment and click "notify me," I do get an email.

The other functions that disappeared for me are:
!. The gadget for recent comments quit updating. I tried reloading it a few months ago, but that didn't remedy the problem. So I deleted the gadget. (Just now checked out the gadget adder, and recent comments no longer appears as an option.)

    2. I used to be able to reply to each comment individually. Now I have to reply as a general comment.

I've been using my statcounter to see when I have a comment. But I don't get a lot of comments anyway. lol :)

    1. It's actually gotten better for me lately. I think I'm getting all the comments and an email notification to boot. Google must have worked out all the glitches with their software finally.

Your comments make my day and I look forward to visiting your blog too! If you are a no-reply blogger and don't have your blog on your profile, could you write it in your comment so I can visit you? Thanks! Due to a recent spamming problem, comments with links and unidentified anonymous comments will be deleted.
