More Funny Ranch Gates

I like to take pictures of ranch gates that catch my attention. I think I need a bumper sticker that says "I Brake For Ranch Gates". Some photos were taken with a good camera and some with my phone.  Some in good light and some in the worst possible light.  But when I'm driving down the road and spot a gate, I have to take it as it is.

Some of these photos are of the gates, but some are of something beside the gate, like in the first photo. The gate doesn't look like much, but I had to stop for the hay bales.

The next one was near Caprock Canyons State Park.

Middle Age Spread

The one below was between Caprock Canyons SP and Amarillo. (I think.) Not only is the name just funny, but the gate is near the bottom of a huge red rock AND it is at the bottom of a canyon.

Rock Bottom

I'm pretty sure the next ranch was on the same road near the top of the canyon.

Red Rock Ranch
The gate to this next one was nothing special, but you know I had to take a picture of the sculpture behind it!

Barnes' Bunch
Carrousel Farms
Castaway Ranch
I'd really like to know the story behind the naming of the next one.

Skeeter Acres

I looked up the one below, and the ranch name seems to be a play on words with their real name.  Great name, whether it's FeelGood or PhilGood.

Philgood Acres
The next one isn't funny, but Hubby stopped the car without my asking, so I had to take a picture of it.

  1. Marti: The hay bales look like a fat teddy bear, so sweet.
I love the Middle Age Spread, what a hoot.
I am curious, how do you put your name and symbols on a post photo?

    1. I know! I wish we could think of a fun name for our ranch. A play on words but not just silly. We have neighbors who have named their ranch Hog Creek Ranch (because Hog Creek runs through it I guess) and I thought of Hog Wild Ranch, but that is more on the silly line. When we first bought the land, we started calling it the Two Nickels but then I saw that that is a common name. My favorite ranch gate so far is El Rancho de Costa Plenti. lol There are a couple of those too.

  4. What a great diversity of scenes with these gates! The hay bales are funny, too.

  5. I loved it! The gates are so creative and I also wonder what the story might be behind each one. I often see crazy things as I am driving. It would be better if I was paying attention to the road instead of looking around!

  9. Those are all great gates and fences, ..Middle aged spread made me laugh. There used to be a blog hop called Good Fences that was hosted by a blog called The RunAround Ranch. She was also from Texas. Her blog was good too, but sadly she quit. I used to try to find fences or gates to link to her, but we don’t have such good ones in either of the parts of the country where we live. Anyway, I used to see a lot of them on her blog, but yours are some of the best ever!

  10. I actually think the Dripping Springs one is funny, with such a barren landscape behind it! This post was very interesting. This is the first time I've visited your blog, and I enjoyed your pictures very much.

  11. And you got some great ones. The butterfly finger has to be the winner (if there is a winner) though. Very cool.
