Love this shot. I wonder what tales that tree could tell if trees could talk. He is a rugged individualist, maybe even a cowboy talking to the cattle (flowers). :-)
I am checking in on a borrowed computer so just have a minute to "gab" and run. Not sure why the hidden damage didn't show, but it could have been from years ago and possibly just stained as it rained. But the wood was bad. There were many layers that had to be uncovered. Kinda like peeling back an onion. The old part from the mid 1800's was FINE. This was a latter, possibly late Victorian addition. It had layers of real bead board, wallpaper, etc.
