I've also put a list together of things I have done this week that you should not try.
1. Remember the dry erase place card boards I made? The paint I used was an interior eggshell latex. After applying the five coats of Mod Podge, I noticed it was yellowing in places. I consulted Amy at Mod Podge Rocks and she said she had heard others tell of that happening and said to only use acrylic paint. My
2. Don't substitute swiss cheese for American cheese in a grilled cheese sandwich. It's a bit on the tasteless side.
3. When grilling a cheese sandwich with your last piece of American cheese, don't scoop up the sandwich with your spatula and raise it over your head to see if it is browned on the bottom. I'm sure the surgeon general would concur that the five second rule doesn't apply to grilled cheese sandwiches. And after you throw it away, you're stuck eating a grilled swiss cheese sandwich.
4. Don't try to install a ceiling fan by yourself if it takes both hands to hold said fan up to the ceiling, unless of course, you need an upper body workout. In that case, lift it nine more times and you've done a rep.
I'm sure I've done other stupid things this week, but these are the only ones that come to mind. What are the don't-do-this things you'd like to share?
Installing a ceiling fan is a pain even for two. You definitely shouldn't do it alone :)
ReplyDeleteHubby can put them up by himself, but then, one of his hands is the size of both of mine. Even after I said not to do this, I tried again and got it up. I have no patience and wanted it done. But really, I should have waited. Well, really, I shouldn't have taken it down in the first place. But taking it down was easy.
DeleteI've had a few of those weeks. My "don't do this thing" has to do with the swim meet last weekend. Drama Teen was at Science Fair as was My Guy, but we still had to provide a cooler with bottled water for the coaches. I thought I was smart. I put the cooler in the jeep, but didn't fill it till I got it to the pool. Then filled it after I unloaded it. What I didn't count on was that they put more ice in it just before I had to load it up after the meet. Talk about almost throwing your back out!
ReplyDeleteOuch! And also too bad you had to go to the swim meet when DT wasn't even there. I had forgotten about being the "drink mom" at soccer games, but that wasn't as bad as hauling the huge banner around. *shiver* I hope you don't have any long term pain from that. Usually hits the next morning for me.
DeleteCeiling fans intimidate me. Actually anything involving electricity intimidates me.
ReplyDeleteIt used to intimidate me, but when Hubby didn't step in when I first wanted the electric outlets changed out (previous owner had gotten paint all over them), I decided to do it myself and found it wasn't that difficult or scary. I wouldn't attempt to do any real wiring, but I've taken down and put up a lot of light fixtures.
DeleteI think your blog is very amusing and interesting! We have ALL had those days! They are no fun! Hope you have a BLESSED day today.
ReplyDeleteThank you! And thank you for visiting my blog too. Seems like I have more than my share of those days.
DeleteSo funny Marti! You made my night! xoxo Jen
ReplyDelete;)
Deleteguess my week was better than I thought.
ReplyDeleteLOL, well, it wasn't that bad. At least I got to eat something.
DeleteMy mother had the "don't do this" of the past week. Don't shovel the driveway after you refused to let the neighbor put down dirt the night before. Also, don't shovel the driveway until you check with family members to see if they are going in to work or not. Maybe she wouldn't have broken her ankle. Ah, well. Live & learn.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog. Love that you keep up the humor.
That is the biggest don't-try-this of all. I hope she is feeling better.
DeleteNow I just had to laugh at this, because I made a grilled cheese with swiss just last night...mixed it with the last piece of cheddar. Dip it in a bowl of tomato soup, and it's not bad! Have a great week! Aloha
